National Film and Sound Archive Collection

These resources originate from the NFSA's Film Australia Collection of documentaries covering Australia's prime ministers from Edmund Barton to Harold Holt.

From the 2007 series The Prime Minister's National Treasures, a Film Australia National Interest Program produced in association with Old Parliament House and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, award winning cartoonist Warren Brown takes us on a surprising journey into the hearts and minds of Australia's prime ministers.

Brown reveals an array of extraordinary objects owned by our prime ministers and discovered in the National Archives including Harold Holt's briefcase, Joseph Lyons letters to his wife, John Curtin's Australian Journalists' Association badge, Andrew Fisher's tin lunch box, Stanley Melbourne Bruce's gold cigarette case and Robert Menzies' home movie camera.
